Stonegate Precision Tooling: Supporting innovation and international growth in East Yorkshire

A leading East Yorkshire manufacturing supplier has successfully expanded its operations, strengthened its international presence and created new jobs after receiving long-term support from Invest East Yorkshire’s Business Support Services team.

Stonegate Precision Tooling Ltd, based in North Cave, is the UK’s leading supplier of tooling and equipment for the stone fabrication industry. Established in 2011 as a family business, the company has grown significantly and now supplies customers across the UK, Europe and the United States.

The business provides a wide range of specialist products and services for the stone fabrication sector, including CNC tooling, machinery, lifting equipment, training, testing and technical support. In recent years, Stonegate has evolved from a traditional “buy and sell” operation into a solutions-focused business offering hands-on consultancy, demonstrations, installation services and practical problem solving for customers.

As part of this growth, Stonegate moved into a new 42,500 sq ft premises in 2023, creating a dedicated Innovation Hub where customers can see machinery and equipment in action and access specialist services, demonstrations and training.
Stonegate has worked closely with Invest East Yorkshire’s Business Support Services team since 2015, receiving support through a range of programmes including Greenport, the Growth Hub and Invest East Yorkshire.

The business accessed a range of support including:
• General business advice and ongoing support
• Branding and trademarking support
• Skills and leadership development grants
• Capital equipment funding
• Business development workshops

Support helped the company protect and strengthen its brand as it expanded internationally, while also supporting investment in staff development and new technology.

Funding support also contributed towards equipment for the company’s Innovation Hub, helping Stonegate introduce enhanced laser measuring and remote support services for customers.

Training grants supported staff development across the business, including leadership training, technical sales skills and project management skills. This has improved customer service, increased confidence within the team and strengthened internal operations.

The business has continued to grow throughout this period of investment and change, creating new jobs and expanding its facilities and service offering.
