When Pace Technology UK Ltd, a specialist supplier of vehicle tracking, camera systems and safety equipment, outgrew its previous headquarters, its owners were faced with a tricky dilemma.
They wanted to keep the business local for the sake of their employees, but feared that they might have to move out of the area to find somewhere with the office and workshop space that they needed, not to mention easy access to the motorway network and plenty of space for car parking and deliveries to be made.
When a contact mentioned that there was office space available to rent on fixed monthly terms at RaisE Business Centre, off Tom Pudding Way in Goole, Pace Technology’s Director, Julie Kealey, got in touch with Business Centre Manager Amanda Hoggart.
Julie recalls: “We were previously based in Snaith and we’d got to the point where we were running out of space and ready to move as soon as possible. We’ve been established for 20 years, having been based at home for the first few years, but we’d got to the point where we needed more space to grow so that we could go for bigger contracts.”
After visiting RaisE, Julie and her husband and business partner, Steve, were clearly impressed by what they saw because, when it opened its doors in 2021, they became its very first tenants.
Explaining the appeal of RaisE, Julie said:
“It’s the right setting for our office and workshops, and it’s also great from a customer-facing point of view because it’s bright, modern and airey. There’s a fully-staffed reception area and we can book the meeting rooms too, so it looks more professional and provides an extended corporate feel to our business. Customers are impressed when they come here and I think that has helped us secure deals.”
Julie added: “The staff all seem happy here too; there’s plenty of free car parking for them and it’s easy to get to. One of our employees is able to walk to work and another cycles. With Tom Pudding Way being so close to junction 36 of the M62, it’s great for our visiting engineers too.
“There’s an on site café that we can use if we want to, although we also have a kitchen area with dishwashers, a refrigerator and storage. It’s a really nice building and always kept clean, plus when there’s a maintenance issue there’s someone you can go to who will sort it out for you. We’d found that our old premises were starting to cost a lot to heat so, although it might be a little bit expensive for a start-up business, I think RaisE is perfect for a growing business looking to take the next step.”
Within a year of their move, Julie and Steve’s team of employees had doubled in size and they’d also doubled their turnover. Since then, Pace Technology has become part of a bigger group called Scope Telematics, which is a global supplier of Telemetry Services. It now employs a team of 20, 12 of whom are based at RaisE Business Centre.
