Neptune Sonar expands in East Yorkshire with new Melton West facility

Global underwater technology specialist Neptune Sonar is expanding its East Yorkshire operations after securing new premises at the fast-growing Melton West business park.

The investment will see the company move into the largest unit at Evolve @ Melton West, strengthening the growing cluster of innovative and advanced manufacturing businesses in the area. 

Neptune Sonar is a global leader in advanced underwater acoustic technology. The company designs and manufactures products for applications across the maritime technology space, including bespoke sonar transducers – sensor devices that send pulses of sound through water to map out sea depth, underwater objects and fish movements. It is part of the OceanSight group of companies delivering high-resolution subsea intelligence globally.    

The company, which has its headquarters at Kelk Lake near Driffield, will use the new premises to consolidate three existing sites and provide additional capacity for future expansion. The 38,000 sq ft unit will operate as a manufacturing facility, distribution centre and storage space and is expected to become operational later this year.

Evolve @ Melton West was developed by Wykeland Group and provides modern industrial, manufacturing and distribution accommodation. Neptune Sonar will join businesses including Medequip and Revive Auto Repairs at the development.

Interest in the remaining terrace units at Evolve is high, with four 5,000 sq ft units available individually or in multiples to create larger spaces. Suitable for a broad range of businesses, the units can accommodate industrial, manufacturing and distribution operations, as well as trade counter use. 

The development of Evolve was supported by grant funding from East Riding of Yorkshire Council, to support economic growth in the region.
