Goole-based Level Best Concrete Flooring has accelerated its growth and improved sustainability with a £49,950 grant, supported by Invest East Yorkshire’s Business Support Services.
Founded in 2017 by Managing Director Jon Wilcox, Level Best designs, installs and refurbishes industrial concrete floors across the UK. With over 60 employees, the company delivers large-scale projects for major clients including Siemens and Amazon.
In recent years, the team identified opportunities to boost efficiency and reduce environmental impact through their “Remove, Replace, Recycle” approach. This method allows them to remove damaged concrete floors, crush and recycle the material on-site, and reuse it in new construction — cutting waste, transport costs, and carbon emissions.
Level Best connected with Invest East Yorkshire in 2024 after meeting the Business Support team at a local networking event. Working with Business Advisor Chris Page, they developed a strong business case and secured funding covering 50% of the cost of a mobile concrete crusher. The new equipment allows the company to recycle concrete directly on-site, supporting both operational efficiency and sustainability goals.
Since receiving the grant, Level Best has achieved impressive results:
The company’s success has been recognised nationally, with features in Concrete Society Magazine and Business Focus Magazine, highlighting its leadership in sustainable construction.
Jon Wilcox, Managing Director, said:
“The grant gave us the confidence to invest in new technology that’s transforming our business. We can now deliver cost savings for clients while reducing our carbon footprint — it’s been a real step forward.”
Building on this success, Level Best plans to invest further in low-carbon concrete technologies and local supply chain partnerships, as well as develop training programmes to upskill staff in sustainable construction.
Invest East Yorkshire will continue to work with Level Best to identify future funding opportunities and support the company’s long-term growth.
Dawn Hall added:
“Level Best’s story is a great example of how local businesses are leading the way in green innovation. Their commitment to sustainability is helping create jobs and drive economic growth across East Yorkshire.”
Part of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, Invest East Yorkshire’s Business Support team works closely with businesses on projects that will help them to grow and evolve, as well as identifying any sources of funding that may be available to help them. Green & Green Mortgage and Protection, founded by James Green in 2020, has grown from a home office into a thriving team based at the ergo Business Centre in Hessle.
