The Humber region was granted Freeport Tax Site Status in 2021, with a portfolio of 600 hectares of land comprising nearly 200 hectares in the Hull East Area. The Humber Freeport Hull East Tax Site comprises of areas in the Saltend Chemicals Park, the Humber International Enterprise Park and the Yorkshire Energy Park.
There are several advantages to being inside a new tax zone. These zones are specifically there to attract new businesses and stimulate new investment into the area. Benefits include accelerated capital allowances, relief from stamp duty and land taxes, relief from business rates and employer’s National Insurance contributions for the first three years of being operational.The Saltend Chemicals Park (an upper-tier COMAH site) already has established planning processes and outline approval planning permission given for development on the HIEP and YEP.
