Working with town and parish councils, community groups and independent traders, the programme has:
Financial assistance has been awarded to 56 businesses, with £339,459.81 of investment provided. A further 13 town centre businesses have also benefited from grants through the Rural England Prosperity Fund (REPF).
Councillor Anne Handley, leader of East Riding of Yorkshire Council, said:
“We are helping our high streets to thrive by working in partnership with local councils, businesses and communities. With Small Business Saturday approaching, it is a great reminder of the importance of supporting local traders. This is about backing local enterprise and creating places where people want to spend time.”
Further activity is planned, including a High Street Accelerator and business workshops specifically for the retail and hospitality sector.
